Photos of Ylikartano
Inherited from the Retula's mansion and formed already in the beginning of the 19th century, the premises of Alikartano, Ylikartano and Laurila form a well preserved and a tight knit group-village and a "mainstreet". The middle one of the premises is Ylikartano. In all houses above the "main street" there are man-yards formed by living-houses and belove the cattle-yards with cowsheds and other household-buildings.
The oldest part of the Ylikartano main building is probably from the beginning of the 19th century, and the greatroom-end fro, the 1850s. The building got it's current appearence once the hall was finished in the 1880s. The smaller red manor house Alitupa is older than the main building and probably from the end of the 18th century. In the edge of the "main street" is and old mangling and clothe-building with an attached cellar. In the mangle-building there's still a home-museum compiled in the times the Vaulo-family. Behind the main building, by the garden there's a timber grain-storage from the year 1812. Its door is a historical speciality; it is the door of the church of Tyrväntö from the year 1779, i.e. from the old church that had been in Lepaa. From the main building's porch opens a view into the yard-park and garden. The stone-cowshelter that is situated beneath the "mainstreet" has been built either in the 1860s or the 1870s. The timber stables are about the same age.
